Tonight was the opening of the 2011 Ohana Exhibition at the Hawaii Loa campus in Kaneohe. Pete Britos has two paintings in this exhibition, "The Immovable King," and "Blue Girl". In the photos above Kaili Britos, Kamahele Britos, Natalie Lewis and Pete Britos.
What is your favourite medium for painting (oil-based, acrylic, water colour)? I wish I had the opportunity to go and see the artwork that other students and faculty at HPU have produced, including yours of course! I actually have a painting of a tiger in the exhibition, which is the first time (aside from in high school) that I have submitted my art somewhere. It's kind of a fun feeling and sense of accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteIt is too bad the exhibition doesn't show at the downtown campus at all because a lot more students would have the opportunity to see the artwork. Even with my own artwork being displayed, I do not have time in my schedule to take the shuttle over the Windward campus just to see it. Other students likely only see it if they have a class or event over there, however a lot of students keep their classes downtown only unless they are science or nursing majors.
i like them all. i've gone through phases. i did a lot of pen and ink and watercolor in the late 80s and early 90s when i was traveling a lot. then in los angeles in the 90s i did a lot of oil cause i wanted to work more modularly and over time. lately i've been painting in acrylic cause i'm working on some large graphic novel frames on paper. they require speed and something more water-based than oil. i saw your tiger. me and kamahele really liked it. the first look mixed media fest will be in downtown honolulu may 6th. DEADLINE to turn in artwork is April 25th.
